My impression after playing it for a decent time was that Tropico 4 also becomes "easy" once you manage to set up a couple of industries, especially wood logging (and ignore the terrible advice the game provides about "recommended buildings", or the weird/impossible missions asking you trade chemicals right at the start of the game, for example). I finally made up mind to almost always use "quick build" once I got the cash flow coming in. I felt my builders were useless since they appeared to be constantly busy, even when I set my build order to "urgent" (and yes, I know about "needs", and having to build a proper transportation network). Unfortunately I found it even less appealing than the 6, since it's much too slow to my taste. So I thought I'd give Tropico 4 a try, since people here keep praising it. On the other hand, I also found it discouragingly easy even on higher difficulty settings once I got my transportation network up and running : no rebellions, no real antagonisms with external powers and finally no real background campaign/story that kept me going like in Tropico 3 (which is still my favourite iteration to this day).

  • Trading system – import and export goods to/from other nations to boost your economy or production.I've been playing Tropico 6 recently, and on the bright side I enjoyed it quite a lot.
  • National Agenda – receive objectives from Tropican factions, foreign geopolitical powers or opportunities relating to current island events such as ongoing disasters.
  • Council of Ministers – selected citizens to ministerial posts in the government to help push through your more controversial decisions.
  • Six new interactive disasters including volcanoes, droughts and tornadoes.
  • 20 new buildings including Stock Exchange, Shopping mall, Aqua Park and a Mausoleum to El Presidente.
  • New campaign consisting of 20 missions on 10 new maps.

But remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer as everyone has an agenda! Your political mettle will be thoroughly tested, as new natural disasters will have the populace clamoring for you and your cabinet to help them recover from some of the worst Mother Nature can dish out. Tropico 4 expands on the gameplay of the previous game with new political additions ∼ including more superpowers to negotiate with, along with the ability to elect ministers into power to help get your more controversial policies passed. Your decisions will shape the future of your nation, and more importantly, the size of your off-shore bank account. If you are to triumph over your naysayers you will need to gain as much support from your people as possible. The world is changing and Tropico is moving with the times - geographical powers rise and fall and the world market is dominated by new players with new demands and offers - and you, as El Presidente, face a whole new set of challenges.
